Ken May + Christine Fisher Honored

The Scottie Award was created in the early 90s by the SC Arts Alliance as a way to honor individuals whose contributions to the arts industry in South Carolina have been extraordinary over their career and whose impact will be felt for years to come. Named in honor of Scott Shanklin-Peterson upon her appointment to the National Endowment for the Arts in the 90s, and who continues service on our board, this award is the highest honor the SCAA can bestow on an individual. It is awarded at the discretion of the board and not necessarily on a regular basis.

The following individuals were selected to receive this prestigious award by the Board, for only the sixth and seventh time since its creation:

Ken May

Executive Director of the SC Arts Commission (Retiring)

Christine Fisher

Executive Director of the Arts in Basic Curriculum Project (Retired)
